Are you a beauty influencer who aims to grow your following and reach a wider audience? Do you need some tips on how to effectively manage your social media channels? Would you like to know how to stand out in the competitive world of beauty influencers? We are sharing 5 easy (and no-brainer) ways to be a successful beauty influencer right here. Happy reading!
“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.” - Anthony Robbins
In the fast-changing world of beauty influencers, being consistent means posting your content consistently and sticking to a schedule. While others may tell you that posting a lot throughout the day, without a schedule, can get you more followers, this technique screams inconsistency and a bit of desperation. Here are some things you need to remember when you post on your social media channel.
If you already have a decent number of followers on Instagram, then take advantage of that; continue posting content to impress your audience. If your YouTube channel is growing, go ahead and focus on making videos. If Facebook is where most of your engagement is, then keep up what you’re doing over there.
“Every social platform attracts influencers to some degree, but Instagram is the gold standard for the group. Nearly four in five (79%) brands predominantly tap Instagram for influencer campaigns, compared with Facebook (46%), YouTube (36%), Twitter (24%).” - Influencer Marketing 2019 Report, Business Insider
For instance, you need to find out which posts are performing well, what kind of content attracts more likes and comments, what day of the week and time of the day do you have the most engagement, etc. It might take some time for you to figure out the “magic formula” but when you finally do, remember to follow this schedule and just post consistently. 2. Don’t be afraid to jump on the bandwagon. Being a beauty influencer will make you realize that it is a dog-eat-dog world out there. It has now become such a huge and successful industry that, according to a report from the Influencer Marketing Hub, “63% of marketers intend to increase their influencer marketing budget in the next year.”
While it is important to be unique and create eye catching content, beauty influencers are some of the most artistic and creative people in the world. Let’s face it. It’s a bit challenging to stand out as a beauty influencer. Not impossible, simply challenging.
If you have the ability to create one-of-a-kind content, then go for it. You do you! However, to be successful as a beauty influencer, you need to jump on the bandwagon first. Here are some tips!
3. Do collaborations! No woman is an island. If you can be successful as a beauty influencer on your own - without doing any collaboration - then kudos to you! While the world of beauty influencers is super competitive, the reality is you still need to create connections and establish relationships with other beauty influencers. Doing collaborations with other beauty vloggers is a great way to jumpstart your online presence. There’s no harm in sending DMs and e-mails to your fellow beauty influencers. Here are a few things to keep in mind when doing collaborations with beauty influencers:
All of these apply to collaborations with companies and small businesses too. A huge number of small businesses are very open to doing collaborations with micro-influencers and even nano-influencers on social media. If you are using the right hashtags, posting consistently, engaging with other influencers, you will eventually receive an offer for a collaboration. Just make sure the brand is legit (you don’t wanna get scammed!) and their product aligns with your content.

4. Turn lemons into lemonade! As a beauty influencer or a beauty vlogger, you will have struggles and you will make mistakes. A few years ago, nobody would have thought that simply posting pictures and videos online can actually become a legitimate source of income and a career. Nobody even thought of the word “influencer” in the same context that we are now accustomed to.
Popular beauty vlogger Patrick Starr’s advice is to “make mistakes and make friends”. According to him, “there’s no degree or classroom where you can learn this” and he’s right. It’s okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. Remember, you won’t grow if you don’t make mistakes every now and then. Just make sure you own up to them! More than anything, your audience will love you for being honest, authentic, and HUMAN.
5. Engage with your audience. The number one thing that successful beauty influencers do to grow their following is engaging with their audience. You will notice that during the first couple of hours after a beauty influencer has posted a content, she would be actively liking and replying to comments. She would repost content that mentioned her. She would even reply to DMs. This is because the first few hours of when a content gets published is crucial, especially when it comes to its reach and engagement level.
As a beauty influencer, think of your audience as your customer. You need to interact with them and engage with them in order to establish a strong connection. It’s not enough to just create a generic “thank you, everyone!” post or video. Your audience needs to know they are being appreciated. They need to know that you are a REAL person, just like them. You need to be relatable. That is the difference between a celebrity and an influencer. And that is precisely why influencers are now more popular (and more liked) than celebrities.
“It’s very full time, it’s more than full time. This could not be a hobby. But I love making videos so it’s worth it.” - Tati
We hope these tips and advice were helpful for you and have given you some much-needed insights on becoming a successful beauty influencer. At the end of the day, you need to invest time, money, and effort to become a successful beauty influencer. There’s a lot of bumps along the way and you’re going to need more patience, but once you see growth and success, it will all be worth it.
